Welcome to "The Frugal Ride" |
One-on-one DIY technical help and/or Repair DiscountsShade Tree level members get do-it-yourself phone help from a master technician and more. And if "your done" with trying to fix it, bring it to CarScope for deep discounts and let us do the repairs and maintenance.
You can reap the benefits of membership if your car is 2006 or older. You don't need to own, or be a fan of a certain make or model car to be in this "car club." You don't even have to care about cars at all, except that they get you from point A to point B. O Being a "member" provides various levels of benefits for varying costs of membership. It's really just people helping each other, and building a bit of a friendship with your mechanic. It's for those who choose to save some in their transportation budget and don't mind driving an older vehicle. The "club" is especially helpful for those who don't care for the bells and whistles of later model vehicles! Economy and Ecology- Those extra electronics are nice but certainly are "more stuff to break," and they don't necessarily help the simple goal of "getting around." Often the improved fuel economy savings and perceived ecological benefits of more sophisticated newer models is spent or lost due to more expensive and more often repairs on the newer, more lightweight and sensitive systems. Those repairs increase the new "green" car's carbon footprint due to needing more frequent replacement parts manufactured and other related repair efforts (not to mention manufacturing the new vehicle in the first place, instead of recycling or maintaining the one already built!). So whether you prefer newer or older vehicles, it is purely a personal choice, with no significant negative impacts on the environment by keeping your older car! And keeping your older car saves some serious money on insurance and personal property taxes, as well as avoiding another car payment. But, "to each his own," as they say. There are a lot of other benefits to keeping your older cars, this paragraph just scratches the surface. You choose which benefits you want to include:

24/7 Live Support, when you need it
We are here to help with your repairs or your advertising. But please be thoughtful in the middle of the night, we do sleep during normal hours, and there is currently no night shift with a technician always awake. So you might wake someone up if you call late at night. But hey- if your job depends on it or some other critical issue, call us, we really do want to help in those situations and make ourselves available. If it's out-of-town road service, or a towing type thing, call AAA or whoever you use. We don't tow or arrange road service outside of our local area. And even locally, we would typically arrange it only if you were towing it to CarScope.
But if you are in a bind trying to get your car fixed, working through the night and you get stuck, or if your just frantic and scared about what just happened with your car- then local and out-of-town members can FEEL FREE to call and get help from a master technician, to help walk you through it on the phone. It's sort of like having a great mechanic friend at your beck and call. Except it's not free, that's what you're paying the membership for. We are a group (club, if you will) of reasonable people with common sense. Those joining often have personalities or mindsets that don't want to waste time and money on things that we don't need to do (or buy, it's why it's called the "Frugal" Ride). A happy and frugal way to live is building friendships and helping each other when needed. But we also recognize that some levels of help require compensation, even among friends. Now, on the 24/7 thing- if it can wait till morning and you're not stressed out... please do wait before you call. |
